I want to study a language for my international business degree and can’t decide. I know many US companies deal with china as well as japan, so which would be in higher demand?
I'd actually love to study Italian, but thought that wouldn't get me very far in international business. I figured that could be something I learn for fun.
This is a decision you have to make. Don’t learn a language because you think it will get you more money or a better job, learn a language because you actually want to learn that language. If you have no love for the language you’re learning you’re not going to put forth as much effort and you won’t be nearly as good.

Definitely Chinese. Italian won’t really get you much of anything anymore, and it’s great to learn if you want results quickly (very simple language with only a quarter of the words English has.)

That depends on the companies:
Since everything is “Made in China” nowadays, thats the kind of thing you’ll tun into with the Chinese mostly.
The Japanese are high in buisiness with the ideas they have and anime, manga, food, almost everything except making stuff lol.
I recommend Japanese but I would think you might need Chinese better

If you have learned chinese , learning Japanese will be easier, for they both share something in common.
