Warsaw School of Economics (Szkoła Główna Handlowa w Warszawie) is the oldest (est. 1906) and
leading economic university in Poland.
Over 18,000 students study at SGH in the academic year 2007/2008. This number includes 6,501
full-time students (including over 200 foreigners) and 4,175 part-time students. Moreover, 7,363
students participate in postgraduate courses and doctoral studies. About 2,139 graduates of full-
time and extramural studies left SGH in 2007.
SGH employs 1,371 staff members, of which 821 are academic teachers. The teaching and aca-
demic staff includes 91 professors, 123 ociate professors, 253 istant professors, 88 is-
tants, 225 senior lecturers and lecturers, 39 language teachers, instructors and librarians. Since
the School was established in 1906, it has educated over 75,000 graduates (of both graduate and
postgraduate studies). The School has awarded 2,131 PhD degrees and over 500 postdoctoral
habilitation degrees.
Warsaw School of Economics is a member of CEMS (Community of European Management
Schools and International Companies), PIM (Partnership in International Management) network
and BSRUN (Baltic Sea Region University Network). Beside various undergraduate and post-
graduate programmes run in Polish and English (Master„s Studies in International Business). SGH
offers Executive MBA programmes with international partners.
